Millions of people believe we owe our existence to aliens. Once of the most popular theories is The Dogon and The Sirius Mystery. The Dogon are a tribe in West Africa who are believed to have been of Egyptian descent. The tribe have astronomy legends that date before 3200BC. In the late 1940's four priests from the tribe told two French anthropologists the Dogon myths of the Sirius star which is 8.6 light years from Earth. They said that the Sirius star was visible to the naked eye and that it had a companion star called Sirius B, that moved in a 50-year orbit around Sirius and was very small and incredibly heavy. Nothing in the universe was heavier than this star. This was all found to be true. It was first seen through a telescope in 1862, but the Dogon beliefs are said to be thousands of years old. The density of Sirius B was not known until the Twentieth Century.
The Dogons also knew a lot more about astronomy and said that their knowledge came from unearthly sources. The Dogon folklore tells they story of Nommos. Ugly alien beings that arrived on a vessel with thunder and fire. These creatures were amphibious and were like merfolk. They could live on the land but dwelled mostly in the water.
The Dogon claimed that the Nommos came from a planet that orbited around a third star that circled Sirius. This star has not yet been found in the solar system.
Many artifacts that point to early alien visitation have been found. Scientists found fossilized animals in Odessa tombs that were processed with metal objects more than one million years ago. The Stone Age had not yet started, so there were no humans on the planet at this time.
Many paintings from early times show the use of modern technology and markings on fields point to the use of very early air travel. There are also paintings from ancient civilizations that show strange looking creatures similar to reports of alien visitation in our time; small and grey with large black eyes on a bulbous head and android-like.

Narrating Personal Interest: Why I Chose This Topic
When I was at school science and astronomy was my favorite subject. I would look up at the sky and be fascinated by what was out there. Were there just planets and stars, or was their life out there too? Is there another planet just like ours, with people like us, looking up into their sky wondering the same thing?
The major problem when I was a kid was that when I pondered the fact that there may be life out there, this also scared me. My cousin was even more fascinated by the paranormal and swore black and blue that she had seen aliens out her bedroom window one night. Just a couple of years ago she announced that her and her mother had been driving in the local area and had come across a UFO. She used to scare my brother and me half to death. I have never been sure if she played on this fact or if she was in fact serious. When I was in high school the book "Communion" had been just been released and I saw the author being interviewed on a current affairs show. It was based on the supposed true story of alien abduction. I couldn't sleep for weeks. I have come across the book many times since, but have been unable to bring myself to read it for the same reason. I did enjoy watching the TV show The X-Files and watched this religiously every week.
I do believe there is life out there but there are many different theories. The first is it may just be microorganisms. These are still classified as life. Any planet that has any signs of water having existed previously could hold life. Some scientists believe that humans evolved from bacteria. Another theory is that aliens are more intelligent beings from the future. They may just be like us, but more advanced. Or they may just be another form of life altogether.
Now with more advanced technology, scientists are delving further into the universe and finding more galaxies far, far and away. I think that their research is very under-rated and we are lucky to see a small piece in the paper written about these new discoveries. I also think that there is more that the government knows and is covering up. It is all very X-Files. My aim for this blog is to keep my readers up-to-date with these discoveries in our universe and those in that beyond…
